Reviews coming up
I have written a few reviews to virtualtourist.com, and I’m going to share them with you in the near future.
I’m planning to put the reviews to the blog and add some additional metadata fields for showing these tips separately in the Travel Tips section. This takes some time as I have to code an PHP page that digs this information from WP database. The job is not huge, but I’m currently very busy with the next trip and other things… Hopefully I can implement this before taking off…

Welcome back! Did you enjoy the trip?

Thanks. Surprisingly, I did enjoy travelling my home country more than I would have expected. The whole affair was quite laid back, and we had a few excellent moments — for example, the quality & price ratio of Finnish hotels (compared to UK or US) is excellent. Haven’t been sleeping that much in them, as I have relatives and friends all over the country.
Of course, there were some lowdowns, too. I was disappointed with the habitation fair this year. Next year it will be arranged in Oulu and they seem to have more modern architecture. I hope that my experience will improve.

“Habitation Fair”? Is that something like our “Ideal Homes” or are we talking natural habitats?

Stuart, I don’t know which Ideal Homes you are referring to: ideal-homes.org.uk, ideal-homes.com, idealhomes.uk.com or something completely different.
Anyhow, “Habitation Fair” is a direct translation from Finnish “Asuntomessut”. “Asunto” can be translated as accommodation, apartment, domicile, dwelling, flat, habitation, home, house, quarter, residence, inhabitancy and so on. It means a permanent place to live in general.
Asuntomessut is usually collection of houses built by different housing industry companies. There are readymade houses, built-to-order houses and unique designs mixed and matched. These houses are built for families that will live their after the fair, so we are visiting homes of regular folks. Of course the houses are brand spanking new and the furniture will change after the fair.
Hopefully this casts some light on the issue. You can check out the fair houses at Asuntomessuopas website
Unfortunately, it’s Finnish only — but you can enjoy the images.

Sorry I was on about the annual Ideal Home Exhibition in London. Sounds like a similar idea though the London exhibits, whilst properly built, are only temporary. Thanks for the link. I’ll go have a look. See if I can learn Finnish whilst I’m there.
