Bad, bad service
Sanna is currently in Istanbul, Turkey. She took Austrian Airlines flight through Vienna yesterday, and it turned out to be a some sort of mistake. The flight from Helsinki to Vienna was delayed by an hour by bad weather in Vienna. When they finally landed, the weather was okay, but the next flight had already left.
After waiting patiently in an extremely slow moving queue in the transfer desk, she got a flight through Munchen — but the flight would depart in five hours. Fortunately, there were flights as Austrian Airlines was not going to offer any accommodation if she would had to stay in Vienna till the next day. Because the delay was due to weather conditions, Austrian Airlines withdraw itself from any obligations. No other perks, such as business class seat or lounge access, either. Only bad service and shared frustration and anger with fellow passangers.
After long wait everything went fine, but half a day in Istanbul was lost.
The same thing happened to my little sister and her husband when travelling to New York. Plane was late, missed second flight. Fortunately they got a hotel on BA. Otherwise, the experience was similar. Unpolite service and no perks.
What’s the matter with you, flight companies? Are you saving yourself to death? I’ll think twice (or thrice) before buying a ticket from BA or AUA after these incidents. Hopefully my readers will do the same, bad service has no rights to prosper.
