MP3 Player
From time to time you may need to isolate yourself from the rest of the world for a period of time. Listening music is a good alternative to get some distance to outside world.
To minimise the amount of carry-on baggage and to be consistent with the rest of the site, the best gadget for listening to music is a smart phone or an MP3 player. Nowadays smart phones have decent user interfaces and enough capacity to be a proper alternative for a dedicated MP3 player.
When buying an MP3 player, make first an estimate of the size of your collection. Buy a player that can hold at least twice the amount of your current collection. Alternatively, if the player has extremely simple and fast synchronisation procedure, you can save the MP3 on your laptop and just carry only a few albums with you.
The next things to consider are the battery life span, the connectivity to your laptop and the usability of the player. Check out the programs delivered with the player as they might be the only tools that can be used to feed it. If you are using Mac or Linux, make sure that there are tools available.
Buy also a good pair of headphones, as the pair in the MP3 player box is usually a crappy one. Check that you have some kind of a bag for the player and the headphones.
Note that, if you just want to listen music while on plane or train, or in the coziness of your hotel room, a laptop with headphones could be enough.
