About the Author
My name is Janne Kalliola and I’m your host tonight. I have had yearning for far-away countries for several years, and little by little I’ve been able to fulfil my desires.
The ultimate goal is to be able to enter a journey and never to return, just continue travelling from place to place. I know that this is not an easy one, and I don’t expect to meet the goal in the near future. I’m fully prepared that I’d never reach this target, or I meet it after retiring. But I’ll surely work like an animal to gain enough capital, both financial and intellectual, to be able to finally undock some day.
This site is part of this effort, as I’m experiencing alternative and geographically unbound methods of income. You may support me in this quest through this site.
Until the last trip, I’ll continue to explore new countries and places — and keep you informed about my adventures. Stay tuned!
Man Behind the Traveller
I am a software product professional, having extensive theoretical and practical knowledge in project management, software architectures, UML design, quality assurance, and object-oriented languages. My expertise is currently focused on wireless services, Web based systems and electronic publishing. I have thorough understanding of XML and related standards that can be applied to all aforementioned domains.
Besides working with software products, I am lecturing on both academic and commercial courses on various topics, such as product development, multichannel publishing, and using XML.
I enjoy Web site designing and digital photography. I used to create digital art, too, but unfortunately I do not have enough time to work with it anymore.
I am happily married, living at the western part of Helsinki, Finland. I enjoy reading contemporary literature, seeing modern art, and travelling with my wife and children around the globe.
