Checkpoint Charlie – Memories of the cold war
Checkpoint Charlie was one of the few checkpoints that allowed people to move between the western and eastern parts of Berlin after erecting the wall. This particular checkpoint — as well as checkpoints Alpha and Bravo — were operated by the US military police.

After collapse of the wall, the checkpoint was removed in 1990 and replaced with a copy in 2000. As the wall has been removed, too, the feeling is not the same as during the cold war.
