Ideapark – Huge shopping mall

Ideapark is a huge shopping mall built in the middle of fields, about 20 kilometers south from Tampere and 150 kilometers north of Helsinki.

The mall might not be worth of visit from Helsinki, as there are as big malls nearby, but from Tampere region it attracts people. A lot of them, actually, as the huge parking lots were almost completely full on early Saturday morning.

There is about hundred or so shops, so you should find almost anything you are looking for. The emphasis is on furniture, the second floor is filled with home interior shops, and on fashion. The number of shoe stores is baffling compared to any other mall in Finland, and there is also a surprisingly big number of clothing stores.

The mall has about a dozen restaurants, several cafés, a few specialized food stores (just meat, just fish and so on), a couple bakeries and a huge grocery store (Euromarket). The restaurants are a mixed bunch, we saw Japanese (ate there, quite good sushi), Mexican, Thai, Chinese and international restaurants.
