Restaurant, Berkeley, CA, USA (reviewed 2005)

Eccolo – Not the best Italian

Located in a remodeled area on Fourth Street in Berkeley, Eccolo is a Italian fusion restaurant. The building looks like a converted craftshop or small factory, and it is surrounded by a number of shops and other restaurants.

The ambiance is nice; the soft yellow lights and earthly tones create a... More >

Paramount Deli-Restaurant – Hearty breakfasts

One of the perks visiting in the States, at least for me, is having a good hearty American breakfast in a diner favoured by locals. Once a visit is just enough, tough.

Penang – Average food from Far East

Penang is a nice looking restaurant in the sort-of restaurant district in Washington D.C. downtown. The place is well designed and has somewhat modern feel.

Ray's Pizza – Famous and original

New York City has several Ray's Pizzas, "Original", "Famour" or just plain Ray's. We visited one of them on 7th Avenue between 53rd and 54th Streets, a "Famous Original Ray's Pizza".

The pizzas, sold by slices, were good, but otherwise the restaurant was a bit rundown and dirty. Don't let the pla... More >

Sala Thai – Cheap Thai

Sala Thai is a cheapish Thai restaurant on Connecticut Avenue. The restaurant is hidden in the basement and thus it is easily missed from the street. It is located in a microcluster of restaurants, so there are plenty of other places to choose from in the neighbourhood.

The food is average, not b... More >
